Summary: This is a Cinderella story told from the perspective of animals. Cinderelephant is a big elephant who lives with her nasty boar cousins. The prince, also an elephant, holds a ball to find a girlfriend. Cinderelephant is not allowed to go, but a magical mouse grants her wish and she is able to attend the dance. The prince falls in love with her, and as she leaves a shoe behind, the prince vows to find her and marry her. Eventually, the prince finds her, and they are married "hugely" happily ever after.

Perfect student: This book is perfect for students who don't like traditional princesses, and it appeals well to both genders. This book is great for size comparisons between animals, and might even be a confidence booster for heavier children.
Common Core State Standard: CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.5.2 Determine a theme of a story, drama, or poem from details in the text, including how characters in a story or drama respond to challenges or how the speaker in a poem reflects upon a topic; summarize the text. This text works well with this standard because fractured fairytales are familiar stories with small changes, so students will be able to pinpoint specific differences to help them determine the new theme and the story has a definitive beginning, middle, and end.
