Summary: A Ball for Daisy is a wordless picture book. It is about a dog named Daisy and all of the fun things she can do with her ball. It is also about what it is like to have lost something special and about friendship. In the story, Daisy loses her favorite ball, and must learn to move on from the sadness. At the end, she gets a new ball and makes a new friend.
Media for illustration: Ink, watercolor, and gouache
Perfect student: This book is perfect for students who like animals or dogs. It would also be good for students with limited literacy skills and ELLs because it is a wordless picture book.
Common Core State Standard: CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RI.1.7 Use the illustrations and details in a text to describe its key ideas. This standard is for first grade, but I believe there are similar standards in other elementary grades as well and probably even higher grades. This standard works well with this book because the illustrations are award-winning.
